TRANSCENDENCE

“And who am I, but a tiny speck on the wind,

subject to the exhales of greater beings,

lost in the eternity of it all.”

I can remember, as a child, listening in awe to fantasies and fairytales. I would shut my eyes and the words became real, the characters formed with flesh, and I would become a part of their world. I’ve helped rescue Maedhros from Thangorodrim, partaken in Max’s wild rumpus, and soared high above Neverland. These stories were more than just bedtime fables to me, they became a part of me, as real as the world around us.

When I began this fine art photography series (my VERY FIRST fine art series), I took inspiration from a poem I had written, breathing life into the characters and interpreting them through the lens of my camera. Our own imagination is what brings characters to life. It’s what pulls them from the pages and molds them into reality. With each perspective a new layer of characterization is added ontop of the last, building complex characters that share a part of each of us. These images are by no means the final product. They are the intrepretations of the present, forever waiting to be expanded upon, no limit in sight.
